Josef Bursik Joins Portsmouth on Two-Year Deal
Portsmouth, UK — September 1, 2025 Portsmouth FC have confirmed the signing of English goalkeeper Josef Bursik from Club Brugge on a two-year contract, bolstering their squad ahead of the new campaign.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper returns to English football after a stint in Belgium and a loan spell at Hibernian last season. Bursik, who began his professional career at Stoke City, brings a wealth of Championship experience and international pedigree to Fratton Park.
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho expressed confidence in the acquisition, stating:
“Josef’s experience at the Championship level and his composure under pressure make him a fantastic addition. He’s hungry, focused, and fits perfectly into our long-term vision.”
Bursik’s arrival is expected to intensify competition for the No. 1 jersey, with Portsmouth aiming to solidify their defensive line as they push for promotion.
